A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME , MY YOUNGER SELF
Art was always part of my life since a young child, it was always “a place I could go, to feel happy, confident and at peace”. Having undiagnosed Dyslexia made school very hard as teachers back then didn't understand it and the difficulties, anxieties I faced hourly and especially around exam time. I had an extraordinary Art teacher and she was so good to me, the sense of relief I felt when I walked through her classroom door was incredible, this is my happy place.
My art teacher was my guru; she gave me a sense of accomplishment and I knew I had it but she made me feel I could celebrate it. I knew nothing was going to get in my way to be a creative person and go to study in art college. Having the support of my parents and my Father who was a talented artist and cartographer also help me believed in myself. I worked so hard to get my portfolio ready and yet I struggled to get the Leaving Cert results needed.
However, with grit and determination , I got there in the end.
College life was fun and yes it was a dream to be in that environment but I think I was very naïve. I focused initially on painting and then turning these into textiles and I specialised in embroidery, loving the fabrics and textures. I naively never thought how difficult life as an artist would be, maybe that was a blessing in a funny way. College definitely opened my mind to a world of creativity but, upon leaving, I realised I hadn’t been prepared for the real world. I ended working in many job types, retail, graphic design and window display. I grew further as an artist and enjoyed employment with an Irish company painting murals and artwork.
These were some of the best times, working alongside other artist and friends.
ART IS PART OF MY DNA
I am an Irish artist based in Dublin, driven by a lifelong passion for creativity. Growing up with dyslexia, art became my superpower — a source of confidence and joy that continues to inspire me today.
I hold a degree in Textile Design and Embroidery from NCAD, where I developed a deep appreciation for texture, colour, and detail. My current work focuses on painting landscapes, inspired by nature’s ever-changing light and mood. Through my art, I explore emotion and reflection, finding solace in the natural world.
My aim is to evoke a sense of calm and mindfulness, offering viewers a peaceful escape through each brushstroke. I also create bespoke commissioned paintings — meaningful gifts that capture personal memories and connections to special places.
You’re welcome to explore my work online or visit my studio in Rathfarnham. I’m always happy to discuss commissions or pieces to suit different budgets — please feel free to get in touch.
Art has been a constant presence throughout my life. It has always supported me through the challenges life brings, and I am deeply grateful to have that creative outlet to turn to whenever I need it.
As a mother and a carer, I have naturally brought my art and creative skills into those roles. It has been a wonderful part of my toolbox — something I draw on not only for myself but also to enrich the lives of those around me.
As a professional artist, I have worked in a variety of fields, including graphic design and window display. I have also completed private commissions for a range of clients, often returning to my roots in textiles. One of these commissions took me back to textile and embroidery work when I was commissioned to create a large wall hanging depicting St. Colmcille for the secondary school that bears his name in Knocklyon. It now hangs proudly in the school’s entrance hall.
In recent years, I have been a regular exhibitor in some of Dublin’s outdoor art events, including St. Stephen’s Green, Dún Laoghaire, and the RDS ArtSource Exhibition, where I’ve shown my work for several years. I’m currently creating new pieces for up coming shows and exhibitions.
I truly enjoy engaging with the public, discussing my work, and hearing their feedback. These exhibitions have been both successful and deeply rewarding experiences for me. My passion lies in creating art and connecting with people, and I believe that art should be accessible to everyone.
CONNECTIONS
When someone connects with one of my pieces and feels that emotional, positive response, it’s deeply rewarding. Knowing that a person chooses to bring my artwork into their home — to live with it, to be inspired and uplifted by it every day — is a true privilege.
I feel that my work naturally complements interiors where people seek beauty, calmness, and reflection. My paintings are created to bring a sense of mood, peace, and atmosphere into the spaces they inhabit, offering a gentle reminder of nature’s stillness and strength.
EXCITING TIMES AHEAD
I’m working on some new pieces and continuing to challenge myself to see how I can interpret the sun, its light and how it changes everything. I also am introducing my new facination of Irish native animals to my landscapes, its exciting.
I am continuing to work on the landscapes, seascapes where I try evoke the calm and beauty on my many walks with my dogs.
I have been trying new techniques in my backgrounds and trying to create new ways to interpret nature, forests and trees.
This again is my happy place where I don’t think, I feel .
